Would you sign Dunn to a 2 year - 20 million dollar deal?
Jan 05, 2009 - 5:10 PM - by missionhockey21
Burrell and Dunn are often lumped together in the same class of players when it comes to their bats, ie low average, plus OBP, plus power. Burrell is the better defender, Dunn is younger, they bat from opposite sides and Dunn is probably the bigger impact bat... that aside, pretty similar. Given the market for Burrell though and the deal he just signed (2 years, 16 million), let's assume that Dunn would go for a similar deal at a slightly higher dollar amount given that he is a younger guy,... Mark Teixeira Press Conference
Jan 06, 2009 - 2:19 PM - by bwitty24
I just finished watching the press conference of Mark Teixeira's introduction to the Yankees. I am even more excited for the season now as I was earlier. He looked confident and pretty unnerved. He will be a huge asset to the Yankees.

He claims his wife was the reason for coming to New York...yay Leigh!!!!!

MLB Network Launches In Two Days!!!
Dec 30, 2008 - 12:07 PM - by love_that_reefer
Nothing like bringing in the new year like the launch of a all baseball network. I for one am very excited to see what this MLB Network will be like. Former players Harold Reynolds, Al Leiter and Joe Magrane will be on air personalities for the new channel. MLB Network will only have 26 live games in its first year but now we don;t have to wait till 11pm to get our baseball highlights!! I want to know your thoughts about the new, all-baseball channel.

A's Steal Giambi!
Jan 06, 2009 - 12:53 PM - by love_that_reefer
ESPN's Buster Olney reports that the A's are on the verge of completing a one-year, $5.25 million deal with Jason Giambi.
If Olney's numbers are correct, it's a major steal for Oakland. The contract also carries an option

Quiet Offseason May Be The Result of Economic Recession
Jan 03, 2009 - 5:16 AM - by ljshorty89
Economic Downturn Affecting Free Agency?

It is quite obvious that over the last few years, the nation's economy has experienced what many are calling a recession. The value of the dollar has gone down, and the price of necessities such as gas have increased. While both are rebounding at the moment, the economy is still in relatively poor shape, and many have began to wonder how this economic situation will effect Major League Baseball. Most notable are the effects on Free Agency, as this has been an unsettlingly slow offseason.

Bud Selig has been asked repeatedly about how the economy will affect the league. He remains unsure on what impact the economy will have. Both acknowledge that the nation has not seen a situation like this since the Great Depression, and as such we cannot know how the sport will be changed. However, both remain hopeful that the sport will remain relatively unchanged.

Non-Fiction in Stunning HD-S3
Oct 17, 2008 - 12:57 PM - by Kingdom_of_Zito
There may not be an eloquent way of describing it. It might not prove to be anything more than what it currently is. They frequently portray human greatness in movies as a supernatural quality that only existed before our times. Robert Redford was the “Natural” and Willie Mays was natural. You know that one is fiction and that one is a historic monumental figure only told through classic footage and interviews. Only Hollywood blurs the boundaries and makes us believe it’s real to this day. It is real. It is not fiction told to us by a well-paid actor or Kevin Costner. But to be a natural? Statistics and brandished 5 tools, that’s what defines a player greater than everyone around. But what about an aura of invincibility that even simply watching on the TV, you could feel the natural ascension to a place none of us can dream of reaching and subsequently making those around him better. Certainly this doesn’t describe our current or future president but just one nine starting... [Read More]

Kim Ng: The Best Potential GM You Might Not Know About.
Oct 15, 2008 - 4:26 AM - by Porter99
Some of us always way we can be a better general manager than the one we have right now. We all like to believe that Mission could run the Marlins better than anyone else could imagine. In reality, you have to get your foot in the door, pay your dues to say. Let me introduce you to a name you're probably hearing about a lot in some circles when it comes to an actual GM spot. Her name is Kim Ng, currently the assistant GM for the LA Dodgers. Yes, she could be the 1st woman to become a GM in MLB history. Wondering where the hell Kim came from? Here's a little 411 on how she got to this level of unprecedented possibilities.

Kim Ng graduated from the University of Chicago in 1991. She played softball for four years there and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Public Policy. Six months after graduating, Kim got an internship role for the Chicago White Sox. The internship was a special project analyst for the organization. Kim was later promoted to Assistant Director of Baseball... [Read More]
